I lost $1700!!!!!

I made a HUGE mistake last week which cost me $1700....One of our vehicles wouldn't start last Wednesday, so we called our local auto mechanic to have a look. We had it towed to the repair shop. They told us that the transmission needed to be completely overhauled. As disappointed as we were, we paid the $1700 to have it fixed. The car is now running beautifully.... Yesterday it occured to me that when we bought the car in 2004, we also purchased a warranty. I thought that it had already expired since it has already been about 3 years since we bought it. Well, I dug the warranty out of my filing cabinet, and realized that it doesn't expire until April!! I called the company, and they told me that I cannot be reimbursed the money that I paid because I didn't call them PRIOR to having my car repaired. I am soooo angry! If I had just called them first, we wouldn't have had to pay a single penny. Can you even believe that??

OMG! that sucks... :P you've paid quite much only to find out that you could have fixed your car without spending even just a cent... charge it to experience though and try not to do the same thing again.

Thanks Rexy....hopefully I won't have the opportunity to make that mistake again because my car will behave itself!

The thing that really kills me is that the guy that I spoke to over the phone told me that they do make exceptions sometimes for people, but in my case they won't because it was such an expensive repair. Sooo unfair! Thanks for your response.

Oh that is awful. I am so sorry. That just goes to show how no one will help people out or bend the rules at all for others. How disappointing. :(

LOL well thank you. I know what you mean though...I have lost a lot of money in the past too that could have been easily avoided if I just researched things a little further. If you don't mind me asking, which car manufacturer was so difficult?

It was Mitsubishi....yeah, I have definitely learned a VERY valuable lesson through this, and hopefully other people that read my discussion won't make the same mistake I did!

Yeah...well I guess I learned a valuable lesson...ALWAYS check my warranty before paying! Hopefully I won't have anymore need to check! Thanks for your reply.

I understand how you could have blamed yourself for not exhausting some measures first before digging into your pockets. So better be alert the next time when things like that happens. It wouldn't hurt if you call the car company first to seek out some alternatives. But so it happened so try to forget about it or you'll spend another couple of bucks for medicine.

Oh Man! I am so sorry you had to do that. I would be sick. Has anyone told you to just chalk it up as a lesson learned? I hate it when I have done something like that and there is nothing that I can do about it. Then someone comes along and says that. I dont need to hear that. I just want my money back. again I am so sorry.
