We just found out today that my husbands got orders to korea. His report no later than date is 10 September, which is also my due date! We are going to try to get command sponsored (his orders are for osan), but I don't know how easy it is to get command sponsored if you are a staff. All I know is that it's going to be rough if he's not here!

In this case it might be easier to just have him take leave for a month before he goes to Korea. It is almost impossible to get command sponsored. The military is all about paperwork and most times not about people. I know, my fiance is in the military and my ex husband also. it is difficult life we lead, but that is the way it happens. I hope you and your husband the best of luck and hope you can find a reasonable solution before the baby arrives! Congratulations on the new arrival!

Leave it to the military to be so insensitive! Just try to fight it as much as you can. They should let it go for a week or so... and are you going with??? If not it is some sort of deployemnt to a non combat zone... should not be that bad. Well let us know what happens.... good luck!!! And congrats on the little one:)

We are lucky! He got his report no later date changed to 31 October. So he will get to be here for the birth. We cannot go command sponsored, so after much debating the children and I will be moving to New York where his family lives. I didn't want to up and move because I like my independence and I have my friends here. But, there will be lots of family members there that are willing to help out with the children, and so we will do that. One less thing he has to worry about in korea. We're lucky in that he will be at a noncombat zone, even though it will suck for him being gone a year. On a brighter note, we found out our follow on will be to England which we were hoping for!

This is sounding all too familiar. I feel your frustration. I'm in Korea now, and also have follow on orders to England. Very small world! Good luck with your moves...I left behind a wife and four kids; however, they decided to stay at my last base and not go back to family in PA. Happy Memorial Day!

Best of luck starr4all, I know what your going through. My sister is in the AirForce and has been sent away twice, she is a single mother of 3 and this always tears her apart, this is where the family comes in to help. She is now stationed in England and is happy there. She has 2 more years to retire, can't wait.

It sucks that you have to deal with this. But he knew this before he joined the military. It is one of the negatives about the military. Hopefully he comes home in one piece. Good Luck.
