So I've been researching a lot on the internet and I've realized that I have a minor case of OCD. Everyting in my house has to be height descending. I like everything to be very clean and when it's not, I start to stress about it. I think a lot about things that need to be done. Does anyone else have similar problems? Share them...

I think the only time it becomes OCD is when it starts to prevent you from donig things normal. Sometimes I get stressed out if something isn't done the way I need to be done and Istress and linger about it. It's annoying.

I do. Not only me though. My sister too. And i have depression (dysthmia and major depression, which makes it "double depression"). I think this kinda thing runs in family. It's genetic thing, right? Some people said Luvox so far is the best med for OCD. But I AM on Luvox because of depression right now. I think it isn't helping me very much with my OCD though.

The way you said the second to last sentence made it sound like you were a commercial. LOL

I was told I have depression and anxiety with a bit OCD. I normally obsess about things in my head though like I'm gona die or I have cancer, If I think about something I find it very hard to stop obsessing about it. I also worry things are going to happen to my husband or son and sometime I worry so much I breakdown and freak out. I am also on Luvox. I have found it the best one and I have been on a lot. I agree it doesn't take the obsessiveness away completely but it does control it cos when I wasn't onit I was worse. It isn't right for everyone though so if you not happy with it talk to your doctor.

The only proven way to overcome these things is by forcing yourself to endure the discomfort of not having things the way you want them. For example, let things get a little bit messy and then deliberately force yourself to live with it for a while. You can condition yourself to realize nothing terrible will happen. But it takes time and persistence.

I need everything symentrical or I can not concentrate. They say only 1% of the population has OCD, but if you read symptoms a person could dx half their family with it. lol! Actually when people have other issues in live they are unwilling to deal with it often shows up some where else cancer, an anxiety or ocd. deb

I think everyone has OCD. It's just that some obsessions are more accepted socially than others so we don't label it as an obsession.

I have really bad anxiety too. My OCD doesn't affect my career or personal life at all so it's ok. I agree with you that if you read symptoms about certain diseases on the internet that you will start to either experience or you will have like 300 diseases.

Yes, I know somebody with the same problem. Actually he is my bestfriend. Like you, he wants everything in order in their house, his car and in the office. It irritates him if he saw a speck of dust in his things especially his audio system and his car. So everything is immaculately clean. He is very temperamental. I work with him in the office, if there are situations that are not done by the way he like, he easily gets mad though he never showed it to his subordinates (only to me). He learned this through his friend from one of his club who has the same behavior. And he researched through the internet about it and he thinks he needs a kind of therapy for that.

I don't think I need therapy, I just think I need people to help me when my behaviour isn't normal. I need to know how a normal person would react in a similar situation and then I can learn to adapt.

well it's good that you know your OCD is not that bad and you feel that it's not affecting your personal life and job. Better you tell someone close to you to remind you if you're already over to what's is norm... And don't be offended if she/he told you so..ok :-)
