wireless transmission of electricity!!!

is it possible to transmit electricity without wires, can it be transmitted from solar panels in orbit in outer space to receving stations on earth.

Artificial satellites sent to space are already using solar power . and we also use solar energy for running devices , vehicals , etc . A village in India is completely powered by solar energy ! And scientists are working on using solar power in several ways so that it can be used as non exhaustable power source ...
