language of goa-Konkani

I have been to goa two times and yes I have found people speaking in konkani the most . Other then konkani it's english which is favourate language in goa . I'm maratha by caste and konkani is nearly similiar to marathi but still it's hard to understand. I tried my level best to understand konkani but failed to understand nearly fifty percent of what people were speaking . It's like marathi in maharastra , Malwi in malwa ( madhya pradesh ) ,Nimadi in Nimad ( rajasthan and madhya pradesh boundary ).
