Do you use whitening products?

There is a great market for whitening products in the Philippines or I guess, in some other countries with dark or brown complexions. Every beauty products that you apply to your skin has now the magic selling word "whitening" in it. Whitening soap, whitening lotion, whitening facial cleanser, etc. I wonder what is great about fair skin or "white" skin for that matter that people especially women patronize these stuff. As for me, I am comfortable with the color of my skin. What is important is I make sure that the skin is clean, soft to touch, and flawless. Is the standard of beauty only about being white- or fair-skinned?

No whitening products for me too. Like I said, I am comfortable with my color. But I don't hate others who use it, I am just curious.

For me...Beauty is not in skin color... clean skin, soft, moist (not dry) makes it beautiful. When you think of it... Filipina wants to get fair skin... while american wants tan skin... :P if only we can reverse the skin tones... so that American will have tan skin and filipina will have fair skin :P

It only shows that human beings are not satisfied with what they have. Come to think of it, Caucasians or white-skinned people burn themselves under the sun to get our enviable (smiles) tan skins. While we naturally "tanned" people resort to whitening products. Are we not a crazy bunch? LOL.

hi 25th_stargazer! Oh yes! I do use whitening products but alas my skin still looks like the color of "lanzones". I think it does seem like the standard of beauty is being fair-skinned to me. I would really love to have white, glowing skin. Any suggestions? ;)
