What makes you shy away from a discussion?

Most of us has preferences when it comes to answering discussions. Some do not reply to those threads which already have a best response. Some avoid religious or controversial topics. So what are your preferences in choosing which topic to read?

I avoid anthing that I don't have anything to add. If the topic doens't appeal to me, I lok for something else. I also sometimes avoid topics that have a ton of responses, like over 100.. chances are, what I have to say has already been said! So I try to look for fresh topics OR topics that have few answers. If it is something I believe in strongly, I will respond either way.

I shy away from discussions that are really short like "I'm stupid how about you?" *laughs* Otherwise, if I don't know anything about the topic and don't have anything to add, I won't reply. Sometimes I won't reply to topics because they are about something that upsets me because of my own history. It is only very rarely I will join discussions about certain types of abuse, and when I do it's because someone has made a comment that sounds like they need help. I do love talking about controversial things, including religion. I know sometimes taking part in these discussions is risky ratings-wise, but apparently it hasn't been too bad for me. =p

If they are promoting some sort of link, I have nothing to do with it. I don't feel that sort of thing belongs on a discussion forum such as this. Do your own blog or something, but stay out of Mylot..
