Can you live without electricity?

I have no power in my apartment for the past three days. It was very tough living in total darkness. It actually made me go out more. Usually after class I got straight back to the apartment and stay there all day, but since the electricity was out I was out and about from 8:30am to 11:00pm. So basically I just go home to sleep. It sucks without electricity though. I couldn't check my email or watch tv. All the food in the refridgerator is rotten now. The repair people could have fix this in one day, but they spread it out into three days. I guess thats how it works if they want to make more money. But damn screw them, I'm pretty mad right now. We're suffering and they're just taking their time.

three days is alot easier than a few years. where my dad lives he has been there for about ten years and still doesnt have real electricity. he uses a generator for about 1 hour a night. where he lives its too far out and there are no electric lines. i lived there for five years but would never go back to it.

Wow. Amazing. I guess its ok if some people started off without electricity. When they get used to have electricity,taking it away from them is like taking a part of their life away. Thats a + for no power for over a year. I could handle no power for a few years but I would not want to go through it. Well maybe if someone pays me a $1,000,000 then I will do it.

its not bad at first but after a while it gets really old. but my dad wont give up his place so he deals with it. eventually there will be lines in the area but it will still be a few years because they still havnt built up enough aroud there. but they are getting closer to him

I would hate it so much. I use electricity for everything! My air conditioner, Microwave, Fridge, Stove, EVERYTHING in my house is used by electricity! I would just die. Plus I have kids, so I would have to stay with a friend or family member for those three days, even if it was just one day.
