I have always let mine watch educational television. I try to limit television to only a couple of hours a day. I want them to go outside and see the world. Have some kind of imagination. When they do watch I like it to be educational.

I know it helps them with certain things, but too much tv isn't good. I am guilty of plopping my son in front of Blue's Clues so I can get some work done around the house, but now that he's old enough to be getting addicted to it, I try to not have it on as often. He has 3 favorite shows so if they aren't on, I turn the tv off and get him involved in another activity. The tv shows today are certainly more educational than in the past. There are some great shows out there, but I know in this day and age kids are spending too much time in front of the tv or on the computer. I grew up in the country where my mom would make us turn off the tv and go out and play. We'd spend whole days outside playing and I think kids today are getting more addicted to the tv. And unfortunately parents are starting to rely on it as a babysitter more and more.
