Tomorrow is my birthday!

This is interesting to me. My mother and grandmother are coming to visit me tomorrow for my 25th birthday. My mother called the other day to iron out the details, and she said, 'Do you realize this year you will be exactly half my age?' She turns 50 this year. We also found it odd that she was 25 when I was born, and I am about to have my first child. It's interesting to note the parallels in life. Have you ever noticed this?

it is a coincidence. but that is not that unusual probably. you and your mom share many of the same values so it would make sense that you would follow many things she did in her life. how many children did she have? it will be interesting to see if you have others at the same age she had her others.

She has three, which is one more than I want! And I hope to adopt our second child. We are very different people, my mother and I... and unless she lives to be REALLY old, then we will never again have a year when I am exactly half her age. That to me is the strange part, added to the fact that we both experienced such a life change at the time...

You won't ever be half her age again, you'll always be 25 years younger. When she's 100, you'll be 75. If people lived to 200, you'd be 175. It happens to everyone once- when they are the age their mother was at their birth. My mom & I both had daughters when we were 20. For me that was my second child, for her it was her first & only child (me :)) Other than that I don't think we've had any other parallels in our lives.

I suppose if I had actually thought about it, I would have realized that! lol! If I'm not mistaken, my grandmother turned 75 in Feb... which means we have a Feb, March, and May birthday and my son's April due date! And we will all be 25 years apart!

Happy birthday! It's funny how that works about being the same age huh? My grandma was 2 months from turning 30 when she had my mom, her second child. My mom was 2 months from turning 30 when she had one of my sisters, also her second child. And what makes it even stranger is that my husband's grandma had just turned 30 when she had her second child. And my husband's uncle had just turned 30 when he had his second child. :) My sister won't be having her second child a few months before she turns 30, though. Unless she has twins. She will be 29 in November. It would be really funny if she got pregnant soon after and had twins, though.

That's weird. I love how these things tend to happen in families, though... it shows a common thread that connects the members of your family. I notice that birthdays tend to do the same thing... at least in lots of people I know.

Happy birthday to you! Hope you will have blessed memories of this special day. And yes, sometimes certain things in life seem coincidental but so meaningful. I remembered before my 23rd birthday that I was thinking how nice it would be if I could have got married at the same age as my mom and give birth to my first child the same time she did too. Alas, it never happened and I never got married. But main thing is that I am just as happy on my own even though I have tried out a few relationships but they didn't work out. All the best to you!
