Okay so im confused with where the comminity stands with expecting the police to help them.Im in this situation where theres a man whos literally trying to hurt me and my children. He has been threatening and damaging my property for 2 weeks now.The most recent there was a gun involved and he broke my 8 yr olds bedroom window. He kicks my door in and hebasically is making me scared for my life.Ive had to call the cops at least 10 times in the past 2 weeks. These police officers all say the same thing everytime...."they cant help me unless by chance hes stopped for some reason and hes arrested"...The latest remark was "if you keep calling us were ganna have to issue you a ticket for nusance calls".I mean come on this man is threatening to hurt me and my kids and theres physical evidence.I even got a restraining order but they cant help me eiyth that either cause they cant find him to serve him with it.Now you tell me are they right or wrong.I was always taught that the police are there to hep.Does this go on anywhere else or is it just my crappy town that cant even be safe with police help?

Is there more to this story you're not telling us? This man vandalizes your property, breaks in your door and the cops won't do anything? Have you called the mayor, TV stations and newspaper to make them aware of your situation? Is he your husband, boyfriend, father of your child(ren)? If so call the Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-SAFE (7233) or visit their website at http://www.ndvh.org/ You can also check for womens shelters in your area, they may be able to help you find somewhere to stay where he can't find you.
