why is the interest in credit cards more than that of a normal home loan?

my uncle has had enough nuisance because of credit cards.....some executives even abuse if we dont pay the monthly installment on-time.he used the credit card for 1 lakh rupees and has almost paid 2 lakh rupees but still has a due of 1 lakh rupees....why is this happening....??is this a warning alarm for the future generation not to use credit cards?give me some idea how to sort it out?
