Has anyone read the book Shopgirl or seen the movie?

I read the book and saw the movie.....i am torn about which is better though....the movie seemed to make more sense than the book but the book was definetly more brutal than the movie....Ray Porter is a major a****** if i do say so myself and when i read this book i could totally identify with Mirabelle...what did you think fo the book and could you identify with any of the characters?
