Preserve our body? - Ancient Egypt believed in life after death and has been known to preserve bodies as mummies because they believe ithat the soul needs to identify the body.

Ancient Egypt has been famous for preserving bodies after death because they believed the dead still live on inside the tombs and it's important that the spirits identify their bodies. The word ''Mummy'' though, comes from ''Mumiyah'' which,in Arabic, means 'Body preserved by wax'. Science has now shown that a body 'Can' be preserved through embalming. My question to you is Would you like your body to be preserved? Why or why not?

preserved, no. I would like my body to be used for other purposes...for scientific study...for organs to be used by other persons. I do not see any value to have a body preserved because we'll no longer be in it. so what is the purpose?

No thank you. I prefer to become compost if possible. Don't think our bodies are worth anything really after we are done with them. I admire the ancient people that could preserve the fragile human body. We have learned some things from them that way. I don't think that we as a people have anything to teach anyone in this day and age. Except to not do what we have done.

Yes,we should not forget what history teaches us.It's certainly a waste if there is no afterlife.

Superstitious beliefs aside, trying to preserve the body is actually a violation of natural law. The energies and substances of the lifeless body are meant to be recycled.

No i wouldn't want my body preserved i don't see a reason for it.I want a place were my family can come and say hello have a talk or just to come and think things through.I wouldn't want my family coming to a place knowing that i was still, like me all preserved but not alive. So no thats not for me

That is a nice point,Graham. We have to consider our family while taking the decision.

I don't know, i've enver really given it much thought. Maybe i'd like to just rot away in the ground, so that i end up back where i can from, or maybe i could be cremated and scattered over the seas, or yes, i could be prevserved for posterity. They all have their own appeal, but i just haven't made that decision yet!

No I plan to donate my body to science then have it cremated. I would never want my body to be dug up or unwrapped in the future. I will feel better going back to ashes.

Didn't want to give you that feeling.I can understand we shouldn't tamper with certain natural phenomenons.

I don't want my body preserved like the ancient egypt do, I think I already signed a donations that specified that anything happened to me they can have all my vital organs to use to prolonged someone's life and that for me is enought to die happily. I let my body deteriorates the way it should be. Body is only part of as being human, what I want my family to preserved is my memories. The happy days we have and all the things that I do worth remembering.

No, not really. I appreciate those natural heritages and the science and technology behind such preservation of bodies but I don't think I would want to do it. Maybe because I'm not that attached to material things more than those things which cannot be physically felt but can be appreciated just the same..

Even if I have the most sexiest body ever, even if I have the most fine skin on earth, even if I have all of the great features in a body that anyone would like to have, I still wouldnt want to have my body preserve. I would rather take good care of my soul to make sure it wont get burn in hell.

I would not want to be preserved. I would like to go peacefully and not be artificially rooted to the earth.

I dont like my body to be preserve. I believe that we are all came from ash. The good things we do will stay forever no matter they wont see us with our body! And i guess, the moer my family will see my body the more they will miss me and get hurt the fact that they cant talk to me or treat me as alive.

My thought is why bother. I think its expensive, and if I do have so much money left, I would rather spend it to make the world a better place, not make me a better piece so that people can put me at some place.
