I live in the state of Maryland. The Govenor is pushing for a vote on a Smoking Ban in public places. Here is an article on it: www.baltimoresun.com/news/local/politics/bal-smoking0315,0,1009679.story?track=rss How do you feel about public smoking bans? Do you agree? Why or Why not? Here's my opinion: I am a non-smoker. I enjoy going to bars and restuarants. My fiancee and myself both do not react well to smokey atmospheres and hate smelling like smoke when we get home from going out. We really enjoy the places that have non-smoking bans. New Jersey recently added the ban and we noticed the difference almost immediately.(Shes from Jersey). We have a bar and bowling alley near her home we enjoy to go to. Both places were like going to a new fresh place after the smoking ban was in place. It was wonderful. A lot of places complain about bars losing business but this does not seem to be true. I think people will stay longer and more business will be given to bars because of the lack of smoke. It has been true in numerous places. How do you feel?

This has happened in Scotland also. Unfortunately though it is taken to the extremes and there is a very grey line what is considered a public place. A woman was refused on the bus because as the driver pulled up he saw her a few yards from the bus stop smoking. Where do you draw the line?

Well it is the responsibility of the government to denote whether a place that could be questionable is labeled as non-smoking. The big deal is enclosed areas where people gather.

Probably in 50 years or so smoking will be completely outlawed. Most likely that would be a good thing.. Far too many people are dying horrible deaths because of this habit.

I agree. But unfortunately people like to do it. States I think will also still want the taxes gained off the sell. It sould be interesting to see how it pans out.
