So much crap for ebay!

I gave ebay a shot and went out and bought a buch of vintage clothes. Now, a lot of it didn't sell and now I have them all around my house. Oh well, there I go again trying to make money at home. Another scheme that didn't work out. Besides collecting vintage clothes for ebay, I like vintage clothes a lot!

Hi, I am sorry to hear that you have had a bad experience on ebay. You have to study the market. You wouldn't open a McDonald's beside another McDonald's. Auction titles are important as well as timing. When did you list them? When were the auctions going to end? Did you know not to end an auction on Friday because the traffic is the lowest? Selling on ebay is a business. You need to research what you are doing. Now for the tip on what to do if you want to sell clothes on ebay. Pay $15.95 a month and get an ebay store. It costs 6 cents to list an item for 30 days. Last year during February I made $100 PROFIT because of high ebay fees. This February I only listed in my store & needless to say, saved hundreds in auction fees. If you want to sell go to my post on ebay questions & ask away. Here is the link to my discussion. http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/886842.aspx

If they do well for others then vintage clothing will be good for you. Do you know what kind of vintage clothing really sells? You can do a search for completed auctions. Find out what the sellers who are selling vintage clothes are doing that you are not. Before I decided to sell seeds, I was a seed buyer & couldn't get what I wanted so I sell what is hard to find and unique. I don't sell zinnia, cosmos, petunia, clematis or any common seed. That is for someone else. See I have my niche. When most think of seeds that is what they think. Some of my seeds sell for $1 a piece such as Pandanus utilis. The downside I have to buy 500 seeds to be able to sell them at that price so I have a lot invested in them. I didn't start out on top. I wasted a lot of time & money trying to figure it out. It is work. Photos help. You are wasting your time listing an auction without a photo. Would you go into a store & say I need a size x jean that is black & buy it? If you wouldn't do it, then don't expect anyone to do it. If you have questions ask. Don't give up. Do what you love and the money will follow.

I will try the ebay store. I dind't think it was worth it, but maybe it is. It seems you got very lucky. I just think it's nice to work at home and be on your own schedule.

Thank you for your advice. I wish there was something else I could sell on ebay that was easier than clothing. I just have a passion for vintage clothes and they seem to do well for others.

maybe you did it in a scattered way sounds like it buy the stuff for yourself, wear one, sell the next one get in touch with the vintage thing, feel the clothes, buy only what is valuable that you would wear. then take a nice photo and request a reasonable price. you will get a sense of what the things are worth. you get $5 an hour at first, then $10 , then $15 deal in what you like and know

I like clothes. I don't think I could sell anything that I liked! That could be a problem.

This is good advice. Stick with what you love & the money will follow. I quit my job 3 years ago. I sell seeds on ebay & my website as well as own & operate a landscaping company. I didn't work this winter other than ebay. I'm a firm believer in the words.... DO WHAT YOU LOVE & THE MONEY WILL FOLLOW AS WELL AS NEVER WORK ANOTHER DAY IN YOUR LIFE.

You do need to do a little research before going out and buying items specifically for eBay. i sell clothes too and I actually do pretty well with it. I tend to sell more Petite clothing than anything else. I take a couple of pictures to put in the add, I try to describe the item really well, including any blemishes, and I measure the clothes and put those measurements in the auction. For shirts I measure from shoulder seam to shoulder seam, from the collar to the bottom, across the chest, and from the underarm seam to the bottom of the sleeve. this gives the buyer more of an idea as to the actual size and all they need to do is take one of thier current pieces of clothing and measure it in the same way to see if the one I am selling would fit them. It takes a little longer to list by doing all of that but it really eliminates questions, returns, and otherwise unhappy buyers.

lol........That is sooo funny.. Ebay is good, but you have to find something unique to sell. Clothes are really difficult because of the sizing thing..And people don't want to take a chance on the condition etc. Try going to antique stores and finding some art work..Preferably original, and see if you can score it cheap.. Just get one and do a really good b.s. description and somebody will pay you twice the price... you are not ripping anyone off.. They can see your picture of the painting and buy it because they find it appealing.

I know. I would buy things that I find appealing, maybe others do not. I've never sold anything but clothes. I should give it a shot.
