I'm going to have to do a short-medium length speech soon as part of running for an officer position in a club I am a member of, and I have not given speeches for these occasions before so this will be my first! Can anyone provide some tips/hints on both the writing of what I want to say and the actual presentation? Thanks!!

I used to make speeches before because I was told to do so way back my elementary and high school years. Based on experience, writing such just entails dedication. Whatever you wanted to say to your constituents, you write it! Be sure to have a draft first and outline of what you wanted to tackle before producing the final copy. When you're done with your draft, rewrite the entire thing you made in a clean sheet of paper, evaluate it then like assess for the grammar, subject-verb agreements, tenses and all those stuffs, and then if you miss something or not. If you lack something, correct it and try to scan it again, until whala! You are satisfied with what you made. Just believe in your capabilities. Anyway, in a speech there's no wrong or right piece. It's subjective. It's your point of view that matters. It's how you deliver it in the actual what concerns the most. Be confident and everything's gonna' be alright. Goodluck!

You should hold your head up with good posture. KNOW what you are going to say. Make eye contact. A trick people use on stage is to look just over someones head so everyone thinks you are making eye contact with them. Usually you can't see too much of the crowd because of the lights. So just keep thinking that your favorite musician is making eye contact with you in the middle of the crowd.

Write it the same way you would write a story... A bad speech can sound good if it is delivered correctly. remember this, do NOT sound like you are reading to people, sound like you are TALKING to people. it will make all the difference in the world .
