Why are Female Children Not liked In a few Countries

I dont understand the psycology behind this. Why is there Discrimination.
All are the hildren of god. Sometimes the girl Child is more Success ful. But still there is this stigma attached.

Discrimination of the gender of each child may be psycological, historical, racial or customory...
In some race like the ancient chinese they prefer boys since boy carry their surnames unlike girs.
