What kind of pain are we talking here? I've never known anyone just being diagnosed with just pain. Where is the pain coming from? Is your whole body in pain,is it in your legs,arms,head,etc..?First the doc should run tests, pinpoint to some degree of the location or actually tell you what is going on.These day's, it seems like you can't find a good doctor, but if you can't get anywhere with this one, get a second opinion. Good luck, and let us know how things work out for you.:)

well, fibromygila is hard to diagnose. i have been go round and round for years ,and it ended up being extreme no to the point ,some days you can hardly move. if you dont understand what this is type it in your browser. you can find a full explanation,on line. but fibromygila, effects the neck, arms, back, knees.it also effects you emotionally, due to so much pain. and yes, it has effected everything on me.

Have you been to a pain clinic? Normally they can help you locate and treat your pain with medication or lifestyle changes.
