what is success. How can we define it?

Who is a successful person , are Bill Gates , Mahatama Gandhi, ....successful . Who knows ,they might have dreamt of more!, they might have failed as such and shined in some other field , so can they be called successful? yes, it's true that thay tried to excel in whatever field they opted for!
