When did your child start on solids??

did you listen to the health visitor and wait till they were 6 months or did you start b4 that?? i have seen on some baby foods in supermarkets that its ok 4 4-6 months and my daughter is only 10 weeks old (2 months) and when i eat she grins, gets excited and starts licking her lips and copying chewing motions, i reckon by 4 months she will be ready but not sure.

I started my daughter on solids at around 3 months. She wasn't getting too many solids, but I was just supplimenting her bottles. A spoonful of food here, a taste of that there. She ate more when she was ready. The health professionals say that babies cannot digest food properly before 6 months. What a load of crap! All babies are different. It didn't hurt us when we were yound and it didn't hurt my daughter either. I'd say that your daughter will be well and truly ready for solids by 4 months and I don't think it would even hurt her now if you were to dip your finger into food and let her have a taste. I know some people may disagree with me, but this is my opinion only and it didn't do my daughter any harm. She's six, happy and healthy and eats pretty much anything that I put in front of her.

I started my daughter on solids around 5 months. She also gets so excited when I am eating and she tries to grab the spoon, fork or whatever I have in my hand. My doctor told me that I could start feeding her solids at 4 months. I think all children are different and you have to follow your child and not the books.

My daughter didn't start until around 6 months, but 4 months will probably be okay. Don't try to start any earlier than 4 months though, and if at 4 months she doesn't seem interested when you try and feed her you probably shouldn't push it and should just wait a little bit longer. Keep in mind that she should probably only eat rice cereal for at least the first 2 weeks she is on solids (and probably longer.) After that you can start giving vegetable and fruit purrees- but you want to wait one week between each to monitor allergic reactions. Hope my answer helped =)

I started my kid on solids when he was only 4 months old. My pediatrician advised me that she can already have solids at that age. I first give hime cerelac, when he liked it then I continued for a week until his 5th month. I added on little veggies when he got to the 6th month. I just add on a little something and have him eat that for a week, If there is no allergic reactions then it's ok for me to continue feeding him. I also have him drink fruit juices.

The reason they want you to wait is because a bay's digestive tract isn't fully developed when they are born and takes months to mature, I personally think 4 months should be the earliest to start rice ceral and then baby foods at 6 months, you are also suppose to wait a few days between each new one they try, that way if they have a bad reaction, you know what it is from and don't have to guess.

My oldest daughter started eating table foods from day one, I believe. She ate mashed potatoes the day we brought her home. I rarely ever fed her baby food. I would blend up veggies, fruits, etc. and feed her. She is now a very healthy teen girl. She still loves fruits and veggies. i see no harm in children eating regular food as I am sure we all done in the older days. I doubt that my grandparents ever had baby food. I would say at 4 months she coud eat mashed potatoes, cooked mashed carrots, etc.
