Do you expect your kids to look after you when you are old?

Or have you never considered it? Will you just wait and see what happens when old age catches up with you?
Could you imagine living in the basement of their home for your last years?

I will love it if my kids take care of me at my old age, but I will not expect. I also took care of my mom when she was diagnosed of cancer and I was attending to her until she passed away. Now its my dad who turns to be sickly and I am taking care of him too. I guess its a nice trait or attitude of children who take care of their parents, but it is not a responsibility. It is parents responsibility to take care of their kids but its not the other way around.

I don't imagine that way, i am still unmarried but i will not do to my parents. At the moment in our house we got our grandmother moved in and my mom and dad are taking good care of her and i think she deserves it after all its their parents. I hope everybody here in mylot has that mentality.

well they way i saw it my mother took care of me for 18 years she didnt have to but she did, and in return i sure did my best to take care of her, i dont think i would want to burden my kids with the 24 hours a day care that is sometimes required, but i would leave it up to them as to what would be easiest for them to do.

As a parent, it would be nice to have your kids with you when you are old. But I don't think you should expect to live off them even though you might have every right too. I would rather set aside enough money so that I can be financially independent when I am old.

yes in our country i mean in india we do expect cos we serve our parents and our culture is such that we take care of our kids till we can so we expect them to take care of us when we go old

Ive thought of this if my kid will look after me when i grow old. Maybe yes, maybe no.. who knows... For now, I am just doing all my best to take good care of my kid. Not hoping anything in return. I might just end up in pain if i expect something in return.

I would have to be put in an old age home because I doubt that my son would fed me and bath me or whatever was necessary. It is too much trouble for him now to make me a cup of tea if my back hurts to much to get up.
