Why won't they spend alittle money and give us a winning team? There's enough free agents and such that we could field a winning team.

As proven by the New York Yankees, money will not get you to the World Series.Every year teams like the Yankees,Red Sox,Angels and White Sox spend up to 265 million (yes, million) in an attempt to win the World Series while teams like the Twins,Pirates, and Nationals continue to put a team on the field that tries to be competative but have a much lower budget(around 75 million). So the big-market teams flash the cash around when ever they want a free agent and out bid the smaller market teams. As frustrating as this is as a fan(and I was an Expo fan) when our team was continuously raided by the big ones, the loyal fans supported their team based on effort as well as win/loss ratio.

It is not the agents that make a winning team its the players working together and now it seems the sport of its gone and its all about money I can remember when baseball was about team support and not money now money determines who will play the best or not.So tell the guys to go back to the basic and have fun and play ball for the sport of it and then maybe you will win.Have a great day.

Don't be angered. Pirates are a team of young players who have to grow up and transform in champhions. See Gorzelanny : everywhere it might be a leader ! A free agent hardly buy a champions. A champions grow by love and attachment to a team. In my opinion, of course. That's why Pirates results likeable to me.:-)

Have you noticed a difference in attitude this year? Especially with the recent Draft, it looks like things may be changing for the better in the money department. I hope the Bucs can pull out a winning season this year. The team has the abilities, they just need to gel as a whole unit. I've been a Pirates fan my whole life (which is tough growing up in California LOL) and I will continue to be a fan no matter what, but a winning season would sure be nice :)
