Consumers unknown power

We all buy stuff, clothes, cars, furniture, food. Some of us love it and are totally obsessed about it some do it every now and then and some of only when we really need something But do you think that people realise that what kind of products we find is a shadow of what we want and what we think is important... Im thinking of big companies that are oppressing workers in the third world. Making them work 12-16hours a day on an extremely low salary. Children working in factories instead of going to work. Now I'm coming to my point. Do we realise that these people are being oppressed just because that's what we want. Because as long as we only care about price and quality people are going to be oppressed. If we start to care about how the products that we buy has been produced and how the worker that made them was paid and treated...Then the companies that sell the products to us also would start to care about those issues. Am I only a dreamer or isn't it the uncomfortable truth that the power to change is in our hands?
