How do u get ur discussions to the top discussions page?

Hey friends as frm the tittle u know wat i am asking here.What r the factors u think brings ur discussions to the top discussions page?Is it the matter u write abt?Or the category u post ur discussions in?OR anything else.... Let me know abt it too..

One of my topics made it on top, my guess is that to be on top you need to have a very interesting topic to begin with. Then follow up with a lot of quality, length-y posts.

I think if you write a valid dicussion topic and post it with a good starting post then i'm sure lots of people would contribute to it.
