Today in India we can see an explosion of retail businesses. There has never been so many new entrants in the retail business as now. Most of the big business houses are entering this field. If we see it is in a win win situation for both the big retailers as well as the consumers. The retailers get profits just by the scale of the operations. The consumers also get quality products, at a reasonable price. With most big retailers offering discounts on many products the consumers are really benefitted. Moreover to keep up with the competition the retailers are increasing the number of services being provided. The manufacturing companies are also happy because instead of selling to a lot of small traders they need to sell to a few big retail groups only. But in the midst of all this growth, what is the plight of the small traders. The average grocery store around the corner will now face tough competition from the big retailers where the consumers enjoying shopping because of the atmosphere, the advantage of being able to "feel" the product etc. How are the small traders going to cope with this. Is this the end of the local grocery stores. This is not only happening in the grocery market, but also in electronics, electrical and garment markets. Is there any solution for the small traders. Will someone provide them some way out of the situation.

Yes. Retail has started to grow really very fast in India. We see many news that many major such Reliance, Birla Group has started their businesses in Retail field. But this has created a lot of agitation among the small Retail Players. Because this is going to affect their business to a great extent. But Im not sure how successful is going to be for the big players in retail marketing. Because of their high cost, I have just wait and watch the success of their big players in the most interesting retail field. Let see what happens. !

This issue is very vital as far as India is concirned. It is estimated rhat nearly 40 million people in India earn their living from retail business. Not only Indian companies but the international giant Walmart and the like are also coming into the Indian retail market. There are every chance for the small retailers to be pushed out of the market by these giants. This will add up a new group of unemployed fellows to the already heavy list. Yet another challenge to the the people. This will affect the wholesale dealers also. The distribution pipeline will considerably cut short. This will marginalise even the district stockist from the market. Once the market comes under their control these 'chopping mall'wallhs will come out with their hidden agenda. That will bring the consumers, the farmers, the artisans and many other catogaries of people at their mercy.
