Not Military Family Friendly

I live in a military community and I worked at a Walmart right outside one of the gates. Dont get me wrong, the people are great but management is horrendous! They play favorites BIG TIME and dont treat everyone equally. For example, I loved my job. I worked in Customer Service and it was fantastic. But around September of last year, everyone's husbands came home. I had celebrated my one year anniversary so I had earned a week of vacation. Another woman's husband was coming home on a late leave and she got to use her vacation and a week of unpaid time off. Our famiy lives in NY and my husband was dying to see his family so I put in for my vacation and a week of time off. I turned in my paperwork to Personel who were suppose to give it to the store manager but forgot and when it got to be a week before I was due to leave I STILL hadnt gotten approval. I went to talk to them and they told me I could take my vacation if I wanted but I was SOL in regards to anymore time off. I've never quit a job before but I HAD to in order for my husband (who had just gotten back from a year in Iraq) to see family. Is that fair?

NO this is not fair I agree with you 100%. However if you take a look at everything you saw behind the scenes while working there. Do you think that they really care about anyone but themselves everyone in those back offices are all alike they care about the common good that they can do for themselves, passing the buck and screwing with other people. It's just the walmart way.

I think you need to balance it all out. I am sure you could have worked out something or you may be able to go back. This isnt high skilled employment either so just get a new job after. They see you as not making the job important.
