I live on a military base where I dont know ANYONE and cafemom is a fantastic way to meet moms in your area. One woman invited me to coffee and to a playdate once both our babies are born. I love the fact that someone shy like me can meet people in such a comfortable environment.

you should get out and get with the other people in the unit and learn about them and work they do. It is good to network in person. Use the facilities there and get to know the community around the base. Volunteer that will get the ball rolling.

But I'm so darn shy!!!!! Not to mention younger than most of the women here and I dont have children (though I have one on the way) AND I'm strange... I'll admit it. My bubbly personality scares people away, although older women find me cute. when I used to work all the older women called me adorable.

I have tried to meet people through there and some other sites and it just does not happen for me.
