After a week, I guess, almost two weeks now, I've seen a star besides my username. Does it mean, I'm doing good?

Well done, keep up the good work! What it means is thatyou have actively contributed to the site, and particpate by giving quality responses and rating those people kind enough to respond to your discussions.

An 8 is a good start! I agree with daycare about how it is determined. I have read the discussion submitted by mylot about them and they say it is from how others rate you. NOT how you rate others. It is a good idea to rate and report all responses. But doing so helps them and you get nothing from doing so.
