Bats, Interesting, nice, or scary?

The other night on TV as the roomies were watching something i became pretty frustrated with this sound that was actually hurting my ears coming from it. I looked over and they were talking about bats, yes, a documentary. It got me thinking. There's a few kinds of bats, the most memorable are the fruit bats and the vampire bats. Each have their own ways. There's many breeds of them, the fruit bats have at least 4 breeds of them alone, but are interesting creatures, and the vampire bats only one or 2 breeds, but because of all the hype, people fear them. Are you one of those people? do you fear bats? especially vampire bats? I've always been seriously intrigued, and drawn by bats, regardless of kind, and from recent research online after that show about them, there is really nothing to fear of them. i might just ask for one for my birthday ;) haha no, but it would be cool... So what do you think about them, have you ever come in contact with one? do you fear the bat species?

Yes your definately right about that, parents don't seem to enjoy watching their children take in the truth sometimes, but it's good that your not scared anymore! Thanks!

Personaly I've always liked them. when I was a kid visiting my Aunts house in the countryside I used to love going into the back garden at dusk. and watch the bats swoop around me as they hunted the various insects. I'd stay as still as possible so as not to scare them away.

Grr... I could never understand why people would torture any animal. that always makes me mad! I couldn't understand it as a kid and still can't!

I'm not afraid of bats but I certainly don't like them in my house. Outside they are fine, they can eat all the flies and mosquitoes they want. We have a lot of them in Michigan and I have had a couple in my house but they are eventually tripped and relocated outdoors where they belong.

Yeah when my mother was growing up she had bats in her attic, and then when i was about 11 we had one in the basement, kept coming upstairs in the night and scaring the heck out of everyone, but i still somehow loved the little things. I'm glad you cared for their safety in caring for your happiness, Thanks!

I remember one time walking in the summer around dusk when a bab dive bombed my head! LOL. Scared the living daylights out of me! I think what scares me the most is there teeth. If they didn't have such sharp teeth i don't think they would bother me so much.

i know what you mean, but somehow that's never scared me, i think it's because of the low chance of being bitten as they prefer bugs, fruit and animal blood. Hope you don't get dove at again :P Thanks!
