Requesting Home working from my employer

Hi, I am due to return back to work just after the new year 2007, however I am reluctant in going back to work when my son is only 6mths old. I have been to the company's website and I have seen a job advertisement which I am able to apply for as It would allow to work from home. How do I put the idea forward to my employer? Also what are the points I need to put forward for my request to be accepted. Chima.
