Share your experience in addressing an official gathering ?

Friends, I would like to share my first experience is gathering an official gathering in my organization and thanks to my colleges who has given me a chance. Actually I was call to address vote of thanks for an official meeting in my organization on 14/03/2007, but as u know the "Vote of Thanks is very simple" just say a couple of words and come out, but when I went thier, the person who was supposed to address the welcome speech hasn't turnedup and my organizer just the put the ball on me saying that it is your turn make a try. I was fully tensed and nervous, it was one page paragraph and I practized in the hall where there were none in the diaz, I was little shattering when I started, coz the dias was full of Directors and Executes of the supplier company. Initially little struck, but later picked up thanks for my friends who has given me the chances and now after that I adressed two or gatherings very compfortablly. Please share your experiences.
