Dear believers in God and dear nonbelievers too.

Today I want to do some research.I want to ask you, how explicitly or hintingly it is stated in your religious scriptures that God regards men and women as equal to each other. I could also ask: how do your different scriptures explain the inferiority or equality of women? Do you also think it is good or necessary that religious writings should clearly stand for this, since it is all too clear by now that women are equally clever and supportive to the developement of society as men.So... do you think it might as well be one of the teachings of God???. Why not, if you do not agree. Since the 1844ies(suffragettes in London then went out to march for it) the force behind the emancipation among women has steadily increased. One day we are clearly and visibly equal infront of law for exemple all over. And have an equal say in politics. Why should not God in His teachings stand for this too.

Well it was said that God created woman for man. To be their helper. There is so much in the bible that tells women that they should let the man make the decisions and that we should serve our husbands. With that said I am not so good at that. I try to remember it but being a strong independent woman I find it very difficult. It does however say that man was created in Gods image. With this said I believe that God does listen and so then should a man. God also gave us minds to think so man should listen to our opinions. I guess I am torn on this subject but I can tell you there are some good books on the subject on amazon you might want to look at. One of them I have read is Me Obey Him?

Thank you. I am so convinced that women are equal and has always been, in reality. Only men have not known that. The scripts have been sent to men, not to women, they, the women have not been adressed even. God has not told them before. I believe that women should be addressed, and equal. A religion that does that, and have it as one of its principle exists too. I believe in that one and take it to my heart. If you look on my profile you'll see what I adhere to. And have become free, by the act of God. You do not have to be torn on this subject, you are a modern woman.

If u r a believer, then u know the greatest gift that man has been bestowed is the wisdom. So when your wisdom tells u that it is an injustice to treat women as unequals, then why do u just go on believing women r inferior just cos your religion says?

Yes why. It is not easy to live a life in contradiction. You must follow modern life in a wise way.

I think that the religious texts are representative of the time that they are written and that religions should now accept that things have changed and that we need to treat everyone equally man, women and animals alike.

I'm giving a short quick answer now so I don't lose the discussion. Later when I have a free hand I'll look up the specifics to explain better. Even in the Bible women are not looked down on or considered "inferior". It is man's interpretation of scriptures that makes people think that. Compounding the problem is that for many, many years women were purposely kept un- or under- educated so they would not be able to read for themselves what the Bible had to say. I think that in itself is a good indicator of men's misinterpretations and men's desire to "keep women in their place".
