Accoustic or Plugged-In?

Do you prefer accoustic versions of songs or electric versions? It's obviously going to depend on the style of music and the band, but overall, what are your feelings on the matter? I was listening to Q101, my favorite radio station out of Chicago, and they played an accoustic version of 'Everlong' by the Foo Fighters, I just really liked it. When Green Day plays their songs accoustic, especially their later stuff, it comes over really well, also. And don't get me started on the Nirvana album (which is, of course, 'Unplugged'). I think as long as a band has real talent, they make an accoustic song just rock. So what about you? Let me know.

Actually, I love mellow songs. And when I search songs from the internet, I sometimes find two versions: one is electric and the other one is accounstic I always choose the accoustics because the sound it produce it is pleasing to my ears. It is cool and smooth. Not that I don't like electric but I really prefer accoustics.

Hello there. I think it depends from the band and the music style. For example, the other day I was watching Mtv and they were broadcasting the Korn Un-plugged concert. In my opinion, that was the worst thing I´ve ever listened to in my life. I kinda liked Korn´s first album, their songs were ok, but they played the same songs in accoustic version and it didn´t work for me. In other hand, some of the Un-plugged I really enjoyed were: Pearl Jam, Nirvana, R.E.M, etc. I like them a lot.

It really does depend on the band. Like I said, the Nirvan Unplugged was surprisingly genius, but other accoustic you just wonder why.

To me it depends on the singer and what song he or she is singing. Some of the songs just don't sounds right to me sung accoustic .

evry music lover would agree both acoustic which has a classy feel...)listen to songs like headstrong-trapdt..goo goo dolls-iris) and electric which has its own rockin feel..so acording to me both are gr8...and yeah it depends on how it is played..korn and amy lee acoustic version of freak on leash sucked..

hi Twekpotter I think it depends on how well something redone ,but sometimes it's good with an electric and so forth other times it's the accoustic that rocks.I mean Bryan Adams redid some stuff to unplugged it turned out great I mean Eric Clapton did a great job to. The list goes on I mean it different then the electric no doubt ,but I liked the songs both the ways they had changed the sound I do like stuff lound though ,but if you've redone it and it sounds good then then cool I'm not really picky about music though.

yeah, you are right it depends on what music... but i prefer electric version, because of the new technology nowadays, in electric you can make it an acoustic sound because of the effects or plug-in that are available in market, but in acoustic the process is slightly difficult to achieve a electric sound because of the acoustic property... i hope this explain enough...

Like you said, it depends on the song but I usually prefer the plugged-in version.

I prefer both type of music style but most of the time I like to listen on unplugged. I myself is a big fan of punk rock, emo rock and alternative rock. I love the songs of Greenday, The Used, My Chemical Romance, Dashboard Confessionals and Nirvana. Sometimes I love to listen to acoustic music especially when I am alone. Acoustic music is best to be heard when you are about take a nap during night.

the originals are always awesome ,the electric feel can really pump you up.but when it comes to acoustic versions there can be nothing softer and more soothing than the original ones.it is true that a few grat songs played on the acoustic version at time sounds better than the real electric originals.so it totallly depends on the mood of the moment,to listen to the electric or the acoustic version of the song.

I think all depends on the style of the music. There are really great acoustic and electric songs. For me it is not about "heavy" it is about professionalism, unique expression, and feelings that music evokes in me.

It´s depends of the band, because for example nirvana, pearl jam, u2, has a good accoustic version but some groups the accoustic version sounds not good. I prefer the original version

Being a Roxette fan, I was pretty surprised at their Unplugged MTV concert, especially with the song Hotblooded. They practically re-arranged the entire song, and it has a really country-folk feeling. I'm happy I listened to both versions.
