Would You consider the United States today as the powerful nation it used to be?

Looking at the economic standings of nations today, it seems a lot of Asian nations such as India and China are soaring up high, economically that is. Reports have it that the US lagged at the third place following these two Asian countries. Would you believe this? I'd probably said YES and it's all because of the present US administration who's focus is more on Iraq rather than focusing on the welfare of the American people? I've heard that tourists no longer come in numbers in America due to security reasons? So would you still consider America as great as it used to be?

Sure the USA will beat the crap out of you in the Olympics. I have seen it every 4 years of my life and seriously doubt any country will ever be able to compete. As far as economics go, the USA probably bought all of the stuff the other countries made. That is how they got ahead of the USA. Almost everything is made in China, Indonesia or Taiwan. Americans don't have time for factory work. They have golf courses to putt.

I don't think the United States has EVER been as powerful as people have been led to believe.
