and what is it? Some people have really original names and you don't hear dogs called spot and rover much anymore.

I had a Pomeranian female that I got when she was a 2 1/2 pound two month old baby. She looked just like the powder puff that you find in a box of women's scented powder. So I named her Puff. My other Pomeranian female that I also got when she was almost two months, who weighed a little under two pounds was so tiny and so clingy to me that I named her Talitha which was supposed to mean "little girl." My daughter brought home a 20 pound white dog that had been shaved at the shelter because her fur had been full of matts. She named her Mattie because of all the matts. I had a Himalayan/Persian cat that I named Fuzzball because he was a giant fuzzball. All our dogs and cats are gone to dog [and cat] heaven now but I think their names were all different and kind of cool.

A lot of my pets' names come from common words or descriptions but in a foreign language. I have three goats with Hawaiian names, Polunu (chubby), Aikane (friend) and Puki (buddy). I also used a descriptive name for a cat that I rescued, she was hit by a car and had some minor internal bleeding when she came in. When she would have a bowel movement there was some blood and it was FOUL smelling so I named her Stinky. It has been about four years since we have owned her but the name stuck and she comes when she is called.

i have 3 dogs - two females and one male. Their names are Precious Praise, Sasha and the male one his name is Chomel Chikaro. Chomel or Comel is "cute" and "adorable" in malay language. Btw all of course are from Malaysia (including my sweeties):) Cant really remember how we decided on the names but still I think all of them like their names very much :).

I have a big black lab. When we got her they called her jasmine. I though that was retarded so I changed it to Jazz like the music lol.

My dogs name is Buffy. I had pulled a list of dog names from the net and calling them out to my mom when we were deciding on a name. She liked it and besides that my dog looked like a Buffy...she still does. So it fit her well.

My dog's name is Dharma. We just adopted her and she is a year and half old. Since she already responds to that name, we don't really think we can change it at this stage. Dharma is actually a cool name, it reminds me of LOST and the Dharma initiative.
