Why are discussions wid good description rated as top discussions of the day

Its been 2 weeks since im here and ive always noticed that the in the top discussions many discussions are meaning less but they're well described by the user,on the other hand many good discussions are not rated as well as the described ones because they lack in description of the particular event,why is that so i want to ask u experienced users hav u ever noticed this happen?? and if yes ,then why?

A well thought out and written discussion will get more responses.
The top discussions of the day are the ones with quite a lot of responses.
