Is mylot a chat or a discussion group?

Lol, interesting analysis. Some people are just trying to clock posts so they don't take the effort to answer more than 1 line. It's up to them really. Just like in any real life discussions, we have people who say nothing for the whole time, or just one or two words. same thing here. :P

in a true sense, mylot is a discussion group. people join this group for discussions even i also for the same. we post our queries, problems, difficult questions etc. in mylot and looking for the solutions or responses of other group members. we also get the responses and solutions from mylot members. many mylot members get the way to overcome a situation from the discussions made in mylot. there are many mylot members from whom we can get better and more helpful responses. however at the same time there are certain people who join this groups only for the purpose of earning and sometimes they just response only to increase their discussions and accordingly to increase their earnings. but it doesnt matter. what is the aim of mylot is to bring near many people around the world and becoming a link for discussions between them. out of which the people connects together and discusses on the topics they like. they post problems and get the solutions. through this link we are able to share our views and opinions. this is surely a discussion group and definately we can get solutions to our problems and share our views and ideas through this group. at the same time we can also get entertainment through this group.

May be u r correct !!! At some places it looks as if it is a Chat or a Discussion group . If we study carefully n deeply , we will find that its more a discussion Group. Ppl are getting their problems solved and discussing many serious topics also. But this group is smaller coz Ppl dont always reply to such serious topics. They try to just increase thier responses for the sake of responding.

Hmmmm for me, mylot only able as 'answer' forum not discusion. Ussualy if I follow forium I;'ll check back in 1 thread that already I replied. Here? I cant do that since it too slow to open

Well, I sure do see a lot of posts that are one line posts and based on the rules shouldn't be seeing any of them. I think one of the biggest reasons for less serious discussions is the rating system and I know members are hitting the negative every time that I won't agree with their idea of what the answer should be to their question. I am completely opposed to the stars rating, as this group has become a different board after the stars arrived. I joined the board, as I thought it would be a great place to discuss several very serious topics, but every time I posted on them my star took a drop. Now I have to carefully pick topics to post on here. I would really enjoy a good discussion about politics, any of the past presidents, global warming, college education vs book learning are just a few topics I'm not touching because of the star rating.

Hey its good that you raised this topic, even I got the same doubt recently. I'm wondering what's the difference between a discussion and chat. There are some topics which are really silly and I think those topics are not at all fit for a discussion.Discussions are held on a topic which are debating and on which everybody can present their views. Thats what I think. Hope I get to see good topics to discuss in near future. Happy mylotting :)

i dont think it does formed into a chat one...some questions or discussions may need answer that are short only...all your defintions above about debate and discussions since quoted from a reliable source if right..but when talked about chatting its also an in teraction between the two people involved like talking each other,,or whatever as we did in the chatroom..here we merely responded to any discussions not in particular interacting ..that is my own opinion about on chatting ...

I think it is much better if we encourage other users, especially newbies, to make more effort in posting their responses. As for me, I do post my responses with great responsibilty. Only a few(maybe 5 or 6) of my responses are with less than three sentences. I try my best to go by the rules, as this is indeed a forum site and not chatroom.

it is a discussion forum, liranglo. and you should do what i do and only responded to those topics where you can have a discussion. and not worry about those chats. i love a good back and forth with someone who knows there stuff. you know what i mean, it makes it that more interesting

I think you have a good question and you reached there after earning 858 points/ postings! What I understood about mylotis a discution based site whichis also promoting earnings for the participants also! At the same time so many people are not discussing but just posting! What I surprized by seeing and noticing that If you have discussed the matter in three paras and some one has just put 2/3 lines but you both are going to get same increased point! As well as earning is also based onposting discusion item but not considering the amount, the time and the mental labour you have put in! But I hope that other mylot persons have also said this and mylot will definately think and reset their this system for the benefit of the right thing as well as who are postring discusions in right sense!

That's true. MyLot has almost 81,000 members amd most of them use it in order to make money. So, I have understood that most think that if they answer too many questions even with only a word, they will earn more money. For this reason, they answer questions without having something to say and MyLot seems more like a chat.

I think that mylot is kind of a discussion group. It is because i'm usually start with discussions which need helps and hope that anybody can give me ideas.

What you say is correct but i want to add in your comment is that this is an environment where most of the member discuss such type of topics that they can gat more and more money.so they thinks that writing two or three lines for a discussion is sufficient for there earning so they can discuss more topics.for chating mylot is not very effective because of one has to follow a lot of processers for sending a message.

I think it's ok to be a chat group as well as a discussion group. The thing to remember is that members are awarded for contributing to the community. When someone drops a one-liner, then don't give them a + vote. Just ignore it. For those who write good discussions and responses, vote a + for them. That way those who are treating it as a discussion board are being rewarded, and those who are in for a quick chat aren't. Of course, sometimes people are just new and learning their way around. Other times a one-line response is appropriate. No big deal, they don't gain anything, but it's not hurting anyone either.

I agree with you. Some people here thinks that mylot is like a chatroom, in wich everyone can talk about things requiring short answer. I have seen many of them asking for a short answer like "reply to this post only with yes or not" that is *against* mylot rules! I suggest you all to write interesting discussions here, so we all can debate the argument in the subject with interesting replies and not just with short answer!

that is kinda true. this site is supposed to be for helping others and having your discussions being help by other members. i do see a lot of discussions just making discussions that is against the mylot rule and sounding as if they are just like those chatting room.

mylot is combination of chat room and also a place for discussions. Its good that we start a discussion here and start to respond to some which we like and then its goes as if its a chat room. Thats the most I like it here. We try to find answers for many a questions here and some new question which we will place in near future and try to find answers to them. Its really best place where you try to earn little also.

even i've noticed this that many people write one-liners or a single word as a response to a discussion topic. but if the topic has a close-ended question whose answer can be only in yes or no then people are bound to write such small responses. i don't like such topics or such responses. but you can't force people to be descriptive, mylot already request all to be as descriptive as possible.

It is both chat ands discussion. When you chat, you are also discussing something.

i see no problem with seeing short answers because it does not matter really, as long as the content is there. i can see that even though some responses were short, i can still make a comment to their ideas. and that's what makes it a discussion... an exchange of ideas or interaction.. but otherwise, it may be just because these members like to post responses to earn and doesn't really want to talk about the topic. and honestly, in both cases, i think i am one.
