i just watched the movie 300, its awesome, a leader that is willing to die for his country & lead his very men in battle. it sound fantastical in todays age, but what or why these type of leaders seems to take no value of their very lives at this very crude of times but such show of leadership & courage are undaunted by any current leaders of our time. would their still be leaders in our time that will have the courage to display of the same?

I would love to think that the leaders would in fact realize that they are there to serve the people. Here in the USA supposedly that is the case of the elected official, however the reality more often is that those who hold office think they are there because the people should serve them. I can not think of anyone since Ghandi who would have been willing to die to protect his people, and he was a man who did not appoint himself or call himself a leader, he was a man of strong views, sharing those views and others followed his lead. But would those who are in power or in office be willing to die to protect or serve their people today? I doubt it.

We wish of the days wherein leaders are tested in real battle, leading combats. Now even a coward may reign over. These are sad times all over the world the kind of leaders we produce.

I agree that it is sad and yes many leaders are cowards, I do not think that leaders need to be tested in battle, for it is not always the battle where the leader is needed, a man of war may not always be the best leader in peace. Or in times of trouble. In times of trouble I am not sure that a militaristic view point will be beneficial, unless it is tempered by the wisdom to know when not to fight, and how to find balance in other areas of life.

From the movie 300, when their leader chose to stay and fight the battle against their enemy, wasn't really the right decision. Their allies had informed them of the disadvantage and the forecasted result of the battle and was advised to retreat for the moment. But because of his pride, he choose to stay, fight, and die. Doing something against our will today, for a better result of tomorrow. This is what I've reflected out from the movie. ^_^
