Does Anyone Homeschool High School Kids?

Just wondering how much it costs, what it's like, stuff like that?
Son is getting into way too many fights at school. He can defend himself but this is leading to the bullies using cricket bats to get through his defenses. We are worried they might escalate to say knives.
This is the only local high school, we are in a country town.
Sooo .. any tips or hints? Is homeschooling a good option or not?

I homeschool my 16yo and have been for two years now. Cost? It depends on HOW you homeschool. We are eclectic homeschoolers so we don't use any one curriculum. Our costs are honestly close to $0 because I use resources like the library and the internet alot which has saved me soooooooo much money! There are also always free programs going on and many of the local museums and bioparks offer classes to homeschool students for a very good price.
