I recently downloaded this program called Skype; I'm sure everyone knows what it is already by now. Are you aware that Skype displays your cell phone number for the whole wide world to see unless you change the settings? That is to say, the default setting shows the world your number. I wasn't aware of this and have been getting calls from perverts. Okay, maybe they're not perverts but they call to "chat" and ask how am I doing and all that. At first, I didn't know why I was getting all these calls until I got so pissed I asked one of them who the F*** gave him my number. He told me it was displayed on Skype! I was appalled and promptly went to change the settings. Now what I don't understand is, why are there people out there that actually call? Do they not know that people don't like talking to strangers? I mean, did they really think I'd answer and be all sweet and nice? WTF ! Well, word of advice for all the girls out there. Remember, don't display your number for the world to see..and the best thing to do if strangers call is to answer and leave the phone sitting on the table without talking. Might as well waste some of their credits. That's what I'm doing now with the people that have my number already. UGH! What do you do to prank callers? Got anymore tips for me? *curls into a foetal position and dies a little*

hahahah Yes! Waste them credits for them. I'm using my vodafone au number now so it's all fine and dandy again. If my Malaysian number is off, they'll give up..eventually. Besides, I hate roaming charges. LOL

I've only heard the name skype but don't know what exactly it is???? So I don't think I can comment on that exactly, but I have received prank calls many actually and got one just two days ago, usually they are quiet with No response or you can hear breathing. I've mad complaints to the phone company and Police but it needs to happen more often for them to do anything about it... I now have a thing where I can block a number from calling my phone line even if it is a private number I need to activate it as soon as I receive the call....

Heavy breathing? Oh my goodness! That's just disgusting. I've never gotten those before, I think I'd hang up immediately. *shudders* but you did right by reporting it.

Gee, I never put in my phone number just for that very reason. I don't want idiots and pervs calling me. One of the first things I do when I install a new program is check out the settings and play around with all the options. Maybe that's just me, though... I like to see what cool things I can do.

I know another person who checks out everything on a program or a site. I'm not one of those. Everytime she tells me "oh! you can do this and this on the website" and i go "ISIT?!! COOLNESS!!" and she goes "you didn't know?" LOL Yeah, I don't usually check out everything. I'd do it, but let's face it. I'm that lazy. rrr but I know better now :)

LOL poor you, hope why the hell didn't you check to see before? I've been using Skype for over a year now and the moment I installed it I checked to see if my profile will be displayed to everyone that's online in Skype, and yes it is. So I have entered only my name and place. No numbers, no age, no gender..nothing! I also told my parents to do the same, and also all others on my contacts list. I do get requests to add strangers, and I'm like why would I want to do that?! Now I've set my profile to show only to the ones on my contact list, I think you should do that too...will save you the trouble of attending these calls! There are creeps out there who are looking for skype users who are online..so you can totally avoid them. I'm logged in 24/7 so I don't want requests nor anybody whom I don't know calling me!

LOL I don't usually check anything, too busy zipping through things. The only reason I installed it was cause an ex colleague wanted to talk to me about importing some stuff into Malaysia ex Shanghai. So I did. I only installed it a few days ago (slow) and entered all my details, spoke to her and I've not opened it since. I know better now. I have ONE friend on skype! LOL

But entering your mobile number into your profile on skype is voluntary, why would you put it in if you don't want to be called? all the est urban

I use it for work, mainly as I still deal a lot with my ex colleagues in China especially. I decided to put the phone number in just incase they needed to call my cellphone. I didn't know that it was on display for the whole wide world.
