What are some of the sayings your parents or other relatives told you when you were young but you remember clearly now and apply them to your life or your children's lives. Some of my favorites are "Time waits for no one" and "a penny saved is a penny earned." (My family never said that to me, but I definitely try to save money whenever I can.)

There are so many sayings that my parents used while I was growing up that I couldn't possibly remember all of them. One is similar to yours, and that is "Take care of the pennies and the pounds will look after themselves". Another that we were taught at school was: "If you want to keep a friend, don't borrow and don't lend". Just one more that comes to mind: "Tell me who your friends are and I'll tell you what you are". I suppose I could go on all night.
