I am so mad at unemployment right now my hubby was terminated from his job over a week ago for a chemiczl mix up(protocol requires termination)accident or not that is what happend termination. Then the company tells unemployment that he failed to comply and tried to hide the spill (which did nto happen)as requireed by msds you do not have to reprt a spill for that product at all. He cleaned it and went on about the job, well now we are not going to get the little tiny bit of unemployment we were expecting so we are down to the last 100 bucks in our pocket and no more money in the bank now all the bills are coming in one by one.... We feel like we are choking to death and theres nothing we can do..... In WV if your fired you have a 6 week penalty and you get the unemployment but here in Ga. if they say your at fault you do not get the unemployment you need to help pay the bills. on a happy note he does have a interview monday and had one yesterday.

There isn't a great deal you can do about the rules, but you can appeal it if you think you can get some witnesses to back up what happened. If you win your appeal you will get retro payments. In the mean time I would be on the phone to all the bill places expaining what is happening a asking for some extra time, most places are surprisingly helpful if you just talk to them.

I understand your frustration. Georgia is very stiff on their unemployment laws to the point it is ridiculous. First of all I would contest the claim against his company. Unfortunately it won't help you get any better benefits from them. I wish you all the luck in the world on his getting another job and soon! I might suggest state aid to help get you by for now. There is no shame in accepting aid when you need it. You pay taxes and that is what it is for. I have had to do it before. Food stamps saved my butt a few times when I was a single mom. I hope your not offended by suggesting that, some people do get upset about it. Again, hope all the best for you guys!

I got disqualified from unemployment once or twice. I had a temporary agency say that I threatened to kill everyone and they called the police. It's funny, I knew nothing about it, because I didn't do it and it all happened behind my back. No police came to my house or nothing. I didn't even find out until I applied for benefits from another temporary job I was doing several months later. I hate it that they can make up stories like that and get away with it. Employers will do anything to get out of paying benefits. I was suspended, but since I was already working part-time somewhere else, it didn't matter. That example I mentioned was the craziest. I've had other people say stuff that made it look like I quit, but often they lose.

I am sorry to her this. It almost sounds like the time I got fired and I had worked at the same job for 2 years and my boss filed and said that I didn't deserve unemployement. I fought it and won they were trying to get me to pay back my unemployment. I only used it untill i found another job. It was still a mess everyone that i knew that worked ther said when my boss got the paper work and saw it was in my favor she held her face in same

Oh sugar, I am so sorry to hear this. And, I truly understand. My husband lost his job and found one 6 weeks later. Unemployment would not pay, so he protested. So then they payed for two weeks, and then said no more. He protested again with no avail. The amount was rediculous, as you know, plus we had to pay tax to the government and the state on it, as if we don't pay enough. My husband is 70, working 55 hours aweek, and is so taxed, that he is not even making enough for us to live on. We are always told we are over qualified, and cannot even make ends meet, and he has to work. Our country is so screwed up. I do hope everything will work out for you. Our church helped us a little and some wonderful church people helped with some money and food. Keep praying, and God will come though. I am really sorry that you are going through this. Lord, please bless this family. Take away the stress, and fill their needs. Let the interview be successful, and help them somehow financially. In Jesus's name I thank you and pray. Amen. Let us know how you make out. Blessings dear. M&M

My husband got fired from Lowes years ago.. Because one of the asst. managers told him to move his truck to the other side of the fence or something like that.. When he moved it the wheels spinned alittle and when he got out to go punch in to work the asst. manager told him to go home and not come back because he didnt like the way he moved his truck to the other side. He went for unemployement and was turned down because Lowes told the unemployemt office a lie so he didnt get unemployment... He found work with Walmart and that's a differnet story in itself... Good luck in finding a job...

This stinks! A lot of firms get away with lying to cover over laying someone off from work! So many companies like to treat thier staff like rubish these days I have a friend going through a simular thing at the moment,, she is a disabled girl they employed, the trouble with her,, one day the company lays her off! She goes to unemployment and tells them,, then they take her back, within about a month they lay her off again, this time when the employment people contact them, there is a different excuse to the last time, she is then taken back! Now she is out of work again! And now the company went back to the first excuse! It boiled down to the fact that she was the only disabled employee there and they wanted someone much younger in her possition without disabilities! So now she is going through tribeunal with the knowlege that the employment services say she has a very valid case! And all that was wrong with her,, she is deaf! So was able to do the job same as anyone else! Just hope your hubby has some luck with a new and much better job. Just keep encouraging him every day, let him know that things are only temporary and soon something will turn up. I will be praying that he will be suitably employed soon Lynn-Marie

Sorry to read about your situation. It is really incredible that some companies just use any possible little opportunity they have to lay off employees. I feel sorry for you guys, and I really hope you will be able to make it this month.

Dont worry god will provide. Just trust him. Your husband will get a way better job then the one he had. I would fight the unemployment tell them your story.Usually the bigger companys like that dont think you will contest and are never prepared for a hearing. Good luck and Ill send one up for your family.

Oh wow, that is really harsh. I'm sorry you are going through this. Are there any programs that can help you at least pay the electric bill? I know back in my home state there were several different programs for people who needed help. I hope your husband finds a job soon.

That is so ridiculous there has got to be a way to get what you need. These people at this company should be ashamed of themselves, how they handled your situation is obscene. I am sure they could have bent the rules maybe a little they cant be written in stone, my goodness what a shame shame on them
