I am using Windows XP and my computer is very slow especially after using it for few hours. It takes so much time to open applications such as word documents and pages take an eternity to upload on IE even though I have a high speed connecton. Do you have any suggestions so I can get my computer to run faster? Thank you for your time.

I also use XP. Have you cleaned your internet cache recently? Do you have too many programs running in the background? You can try a few of these ideas to see what helps...I do these at least once a week since surfing bogs down the computer with cookies, etc. 1. Go to Tools, Internet Options, Delete Cookies, Delete Files (check the box to include all offline content) and Clear History. 2. Run a disk Cleanup 3. Use AdAware SE, Spybot Search and Destroy, and Spyware Blaster often. You can get download all of them free. Well it is very important to run a good routine on your computer 2 to 3 times very month at least that's my habit. It's important to eliminate all or at least most traces of spyware from your computer. Next, make use you periodically delete your "Temporary Internet Files" as the fold that contains that data can grow rather large. Also a good defragment at least once every two weeks is a great practice to pick up. Next, you can download a very good application that's very small and I highly recommend called C Cleaner (Crap Cleaner) it's a very good program for eliminating most other traces of various files that are useless and you computer doesn't need them anymore, but keeping them in your system can slow you computer down quite a bit over time. I hope this has helped you some.

I think you need a RAM upgrade or you should reformat your computer sothat you can increase your speeds.

There may be deeper reasons why your computer and internet run very slow. It might not be cookies or temporary internet files that are clogging your IE browser. You might need to upgrade your memory or video card. Even if you have high speed internet, a slow PC can make high speed internet run like dial up connection. You might have installed too many applications that goes beyond your available resources. It would be helpful if you posted the specifications of your PC to be able to dig deeper the cause of the problem.
