I have to look for a new job now...

I'm nervous, because I haven't had to actively look for a new job in almost 6 and a half years, when I was looking for my first job. And I ended up getting hired at the first place I applied to, so it wasn't much of a search, then. Even when I moved down to Florida, I was hired by Disney my second day there. Do you guys have any advice for me? What I should do, how I should act, anything?

Hi! Seems like you're new here. Welcome to myLot! In response to your discussion, my opinion is if you were able to do it before (like find a job at such short notice), then there's a great possibility that you would be able to duplicate that feat. You just have to always remember that you can do it! Don't ever lose confidence in what you can do. I know that you just lost the practice of job-hunting, but you'll get everything together again because your skills are still there. Besides, I think you have a great resume or CV. That's already something. Good luck! Oh, and happy myLotting!

thank you. :) On both the advice, and the welcome to mylot. I'm going to hand in some applications tomorrow. 4 of them in fact. And I applied to one place online today. Here's to hoping that at least one place wants to hire me.

hi accioetoile. I have a small advice for you. before you start searching for a job, please make sure you really know what you want to do with your life, cause if you want be sure, you will be finding different places that were not ment for you and just waste your valuable time. Please make a list of what your best wroking place should have? for example, for me this list will be a s follows: 1. a lot of free time 2. make my own dessisions 3. lot's of money 4. peace in my heart 5. freedom after 4 and a half years of working for a company, I decided to work for myself. And now I am worrking from home and I am the most happiest girl in the world. I wish you good luck in everything you choose todo with your life!

thanks. the way I'm looking at it right now is I'm looking for a job until I go back to school, not a career. I know that whatever job I end up with now will not be a permanent job, but just one for right now.

I just went through the whole job hunting thing. The most important thing is selling yourself. Being positive, smiling and friendly goes a long way, but also being personable and professional.
