I'm not a designing expert, still, from a visitor's perspective I can say that concept is not must in designing. The looks-and-feel factor irrespective of its concept plays predominant role in website designing. But having a concept based design helps you to reach the target people more easily.

ya if their is some concept people catch it up very easily orelse block-minded.. and also with out concept can explain in terms of colours and also the material uses that speaks the thing..!!
