Hello, the notion of star rating it was implemented by myLot being a way to translate the quality of mylot members, based on the relevance of the participation here. It start with "1" raising all the way to a 10 (being the highest). You can be sure that a member with a "10" is a worthy myLot member.
There are some practical aspects, having a 10 star rating you can upload let's say more pictures (30 instead of approx. 27, when you have a 9 star rating).

The stars by someones name represent your rating.
I am not completely sure how this is worked out, but I think it is worked out by the amount of positive and negative responses you get to your answers and your discussions.
The higher the number the better your rating and people think that it means you get paid more too, but as mylot don't reveal how they work out the pay I'm not sure if this is correct.
