Accident--Moving Truck vs. SUV

United States

Yesterday I had an accident in another state. I was doing a favor for a neighbor and drove the moving truck for them. I pulled into a restaurant's parking lot and a car was at a drive-thru that had been added as afterthought. The drive was narrow and I succeeded in passing on the right by the vehicle without touching it. However, when I thought I had passed the SUV I swung out to the left just a little to pull into a parking spot. The rear of the Ryder truck caught the SUV's bumper on it's right and drug the car away from the wall where it was positioned while the driver waited to get her Coke she had purchased. The police came and no ticket was issued. The Ryder truck was insured. The cop wanted the name of my insurance company and said my insurance and Ryder's insurance would have to battle it out as to who would pay. The SUV's bumper was pulled out, the right front fender was damaged and scraped, and the right door had a few scratches on it. Has anyone experienced this? If so, can you tell me what to expect? This has been a very frightening experience.
