Why is it that you can post a discussion which you believe is interesting and get no responses and all the sudden the same topic comes up and get 100's of responses?

You need lots of friends, so they will be notified if you start a discussion. If not, they get lost in the shuffle.

Good question. I think that their are many reasons for this and will state a few. This of course is my own opinion. First I think that having friends helps tremendously, a group that you network with and answer each others discussions when ever possible. Most of us respond to our friends before posting to non friends. I also think that catchy titles have something to do with it and the quality of the post. Was it short or was it long and well written. Some avoid discussions that aren't clear about what's being asked, or spelling and punctuation. Some stay away from the text type discussions this is to name a few. Some stay away from lower stars even. Sometimes it's the time of day that the post is started or even some because to many are started to quickly by one member. Starting to many discussions all at once defeats the purpose of getting many responses as it not only moves it off of the profile page but buries in all the other topics or links, such as new discussions just started or discussions with no responses etc... These are a few reasons that the same topics get many or few responses in my opinion. Hope this helps! :)
