March 26, 2007 2:53am CST
Expectant mothers, particualrly primiparas, and those who have experienced difficulties with locatin management, should be motivated and prepared to exclusively breastfeed. This would be achieved by educating them, through a persona approach. About the benefits and management of breastfeeding, in the last trimester of pregancy, breasts and nipples should be examined and relevent advise given. Expectant mothers shuld be counselled to eat an extra helping of the family food with some green vegetables. In additon, they should be encouraged to rest for half to one hour and if possible switch to lighter work during the last trimester. Consumption of salt only in the form of iodized salf should be ensured.
